Catharsis. What does this word mean to you?

To me, catharsis is finally releasing everything I’ve been holding in until I can breathe again…

For me, that usually looks like crying, dancing, taking a long walk, writing, listening to music that understands me when I don’t feel like talking…. or venting to my people who truly get me.

Change. Change is the real purpose of catharsis. Screaming into the wind is pointless unless it results in some insight, revelation, or acknowledgement of some internal or external force causing friction in your life. Catharsis identifies the need. What you do with that knowledge is the real question.

The word catharsis means what the definition says, but I believe you're asking how do we individually perform it? Hmmm... I usually remind myself how fortunate I am to have the life that I do, and there are things I can do nothing about, and things that I can.

I never looked up the definition but I always believed it meant getting pleasure from doing something that doesn’t necessarily make any sense.

catharsis to me means taking everything in and releasing my emotions to process everything. i do this via writing, walking, taking a shower or bath or crying.
