If you could be born again and choose your era, would you go backward or forward? 👀

Imagine you’re given one impossible choice: you get another life, but this time, you choose the era you’re born into.

Would you go back to the 1900s, when life was completely different, or jump forward to 2090 to see what humanity becomes?

The early 1900s were a world without smartphones, the internet, social media, modern cars, or instant communication. People lived slower lives, communities were often more connected, and so much of everyday life depended on things we barely think about today...

But it wasn't an easy world either. Medicine was limited, technology was primitive by today's standards, and many things we now consider normal simply didn't exist.

Then there's 2090. 😳

Imagine waking up more than 60 years in the future. AI could be part of everyday life. Robots might be completely normal. Transportation could look nothing like today's cars. Medical breakthroughs might change how long and how well humans live. And maybe humans will actually be living beyond Earth...

Imagine showing someone in 2090 a smartphone from today and watching them laugh because it looks as outdated to them as an old typewriter looks to us. 😂📱

That's what makes this choice so fascinating.

Going backward lets you experience a world that actually existed. Going forward means stepping into something nobody alive today has ever seen.

If you could only choose one, would you go back and experience life in the 1900s, or jump forward to 2090? And what's the first thing you'd want to see or experience?

With how the world's going now I'll take the 1900s. I'll have almost no righs for 1/3 of my life, but at least I won't be living in a technofascist dystopian state ruled by AI if the world even still exists in 2090.

I would choose about 1965. At least. I have a pretty good idea of what was coming on there and what I could expect. I don't know what the future's going to bring her right now. It looks pretty bleak

Another good reason to go back to the 1960s is because the music was definitely a lot better and so was the food. Also, the politicians were terrible but not as bad as they are now. I'm told all of this by my older neighbor.

I don't want to go forward, as it would be confusing and probably disappointing to me. But 1900's would not be going back, because I was born in 1955. My choice would be to be born around 1820-1840.

2090 for sure. I’m way too curious about the future to go backwards lol. I’d want to see how far technology and medicine have come, what everyday life looks like, and whether people are actually living somewhere other than Earth by then. I think the first thing I’d want to do is just walk around and take everything in.…

2090 is a risky option. Chances are high you will be reborn in after nuclear war mad max scenario where your parents inhalate silver paint spray to get high.

The 1900s because it just seems like the world keeps getting worse and worse and everything more and more expensive. If things don't improve now they'll be way worse by 2090. Of the 1900s according to most people the most ideal seem to be (I know I wasn't even born yet to state the obvious) the 80s and 90s. Racism and discrimination isn't as bad as the 70s and below and technology is advancing but not to the point that it's ruining lives like today.

I'd go back to the year of my birth. I'd know every major economic boom and bust. I'd know the timing of technology revolutions. The outcome of wars. Every natural disaster. And I'd have the knowledge of a seasoned finance professional. I'd also know which historical figures to eliminate in those years decades in advance of them causing any problems. And I'd have the resources to make it happen.

first half of the 1900's is arguably one of the worst "modern" times... would leave me way too tired to then take all the BS from the second half of the 1900's

1900 would be interesting because that would be my great-grandparents lives about which they often told me. But also rather dangerous without penicillin, x-rays and cortisone inhalers. I would play it safe and choose a jump into the future.

And then find yourself getting shanked by not-so-Germans? No thanks, take me back to the past when people looked happier, the world was rapidly developing yet still building beautiful things and there was a lot more freedom overall.
Even if there were higher social expectations back then, infact that's good actually.

The 1900s span 100 years that are very different.
If we’re talking about 80’s and 90’s I think I would have enjoyed those eras.
But I would rather avoid 2 world wars if I could.


As for 2090: It could be fun.
I could theoretically live to see it as it is.
But I would need to maintain my health into my own 90s
