What’s wrong with being too confident

There's nothing wrong with it but the most overly confident people I've met, it was actually just a facade they were hiding their issues or running away from them suppressing and ignoring them. They were actually extremely fragile underneath, they just didn't want to face that. Genuine confidence is not easy to gain otherwise everybody would be confident. So people who pretend that confidence is easy are usually faking to try and fool other people or they're cheating in some way like using drugs etc.

"To be, or not to be" confident in any given moment and situation. "Ay, there's the rub" lads and lassies. Whether tis nobler in the mind to act with the conviction you are right and perchance be wrong or do nothing and live with that result instead.

Arrogant or risk taker? Coward or careful? It's sometimes a fine line with painful repercussions for the wrong choice and being a hero for taking action when no one else will step forward. And the difference is confidence plus the ability to endure accountability if you're wrong.

However being over confident may mean you're simply stupid or reckless. You either don't understand the risks or you don't care what harm you may cause.

Self confidence bases on some personal achievements and perception about own status in certain things. Those achievements can be an illusions and this perception a wish think. In this case it's often false self-confidence that goes in positive or negative direction. However in human nature there is tendency to over valuation of own abilities, skill, achievements, looks... This kind of false self confidence is arrogance and this is depending on intensity considered as a very negative trait by others.

Hmmh. There are kinda some fine lines between confidence, overly confident and arrogance.

We should all be confident but overly confident implies more confidence than is justified in reality. Arrogance is a slight step along in that you couldn't possibly be wrong.

I'd say there is a slightly blurred line between the two. During Roman Triumphs the victorious general had some one saying to him 'Remember you are mortal'.

So Romans thought it necessary to point out the line.
