So many folks out there dont Prepp at all. Most could barely got by if they of a partner lost their job or got sick. I saw during the financial crisis, Covid and various other crisis and extreme weather events.

Like even the basics like a first aid kit or candles. If the power goes out in a blizzard they have no generator, no torch or candles, no emergency heaters nothing. Yet they have all the latest clothes and a new matching BMWs.

Prepping is about being prepared for likely scenarios. People say no one could have saw Covid coming but it was predicted and pandemics are nothing new.
There are any number of SHTF possibilities man-made disasters to natural disasters. You may need to prepare hunker down for a time or be able to bug out fast.

What exactly are you prepping for? In the US, the only reasonably probable disaster is weather, earthquakes, or fire. I've always got enough food in the house to go 2-4 weeks. I've got 2 backpacking stoves. One runs on isobutane and one is a multifuel stove that will burn gasoline, white gas (naptha), heating oil, diesel, kerosene, or jet-A fuel. Hell I can make an alcohol stove in 10 minutes. I have a water filtration system that can process about 200 liters for filter. I've never been without power for even 24 hours. But that wouldn't be a problem either. Consume the stuff in the fridge first.

The typical disaster in the US doesn't even make it to the 2 week mark. If you're prepping for the Zombie Apocalypse or invasion by Greenland, you're in a cult and probably wasting your time and money.

Nope. I'm a backpacker. And I've been taught to survive almost anywhere on this planet. And then actually done it. I don't worry too much about my utility company failing for a few hours.

Oh and I have multiple packs, multiple tents, and multiple sleep systems. Still not a prepper. I backpack and climb and ski and snowshoe 4 seasons.

If I need first aid, I can go to the hospital. Also where I live it's mandated by law to have a first aid kid in your car. And the only time stores close is Sundays. I wouldn't call it "prepping" to plan my shopping around the stores being closed on Sunday. There is no other store closings. We don't live in some dystopian fantasy world. We live in the western first world were nothing vital for survival is in short supply. That's why prepping is neurotic instead of sensible strategy.
