Trending & News No, I don't. The devotion to so-called "progress" is just as fanatical, blind, ignorant, logically fallacious, and irrational - or as someone recently put it on one of my threads, slavish - as that to antiquity, fundamentalism, and (though I use this word with some degree of hesitation) tradition. In fact, it's worse.
With the most radical devotion to tradition, you can at least point to something that has always worked. There's a quote...“Tradition is a set of solutions for which we have forgotten the problems. Throw away the solution and you get the problem back. Sometimes the problem has mutated or disappeared. Often it is still there as strong as it ever was.” So really, in a way, "progress" has more in common with the caricature of tradition that it often straw-mans.
With all that being said, those who believe in tradition should be open to new ideas or knowledge, or to expansions of the original. The wisdom and knowledge that preceded it though should not be shunned or forgotten. And there are some ideas that should not be changed or expanded, i. e., the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman for the procreation and education of children or "pro-life" being expanded from opposition to abortion specifically and directly to include the death penalty, immigration, or the environment. Otherwise, the original intent and understanding gets lost. It should be in keeping with what came before.
But no, I don't believe in "absolute progress".
I would call myself a progressive but I hate introducing yourself with your pronouns even in your bio.
There's a song and dance in meeting people and being polite about it. People mess up the introduction and that's ok. That's the beautiful part of this song and dance where strangers become friends into lovers into family.
Don't let bigots control such a sacred dance with a pre-made script.

Governed, and all branches. A person is supposed to become refined and closer to the Almighty as they age. Shouldn't it be the same for the government?
Vinyl record albums and analog amplifiers gave a more 'alive" experience than CDs and MP3s
