Why is it that, apart from France, other European countries do not want European strategic autonomy?

because the rest of Europe is realistic...

Europe's main power were a couple of things... banking/finance, and exploiting colonial resources around the world

modern globalization has ruined all that... maybe France could pretend they can still continue on their own and being "autonomous", the rest of Europe is too busy facing the reality of nowadays

The EU is one of the biggest economic powers in the world. If the countries were willing to work closer together and invest more, it could rival the US and China in many aspects. But the countries don't want to give up more of their national independence and they can't agree on a lot of important things.

yes... the EU is quite powerful but only in some areas, not all of them

yes... the EU could tighten up and work closely together as one, but they could only invest more

the key word here is investment, Europe has the power to invest, because of their financial/banking systems, however... they cannot invest on themselves, and this is the problem

countries like the USA and China can invest on others but also themselves... USA and China have a lot more resources (let's think of land, water, minerals, and manufacturing) in their lands, and also a very shameless way to exploit resources in other countries as well...

exploiting the rest of the world is not so easy anymore... and also... for the European Governments to exploit their own citizens is a bit more tricky... the USA and China just do that shamelessly as well

the USA and China are not "nice" when it comes to getting power... now, if Europe turns back to "not being nice" well, that's going to be a big big problem, so we really want that to happen again? lol
