When talking about a situation from your life is it racist to point out people's races or ethnicities when talking about that situation?

I've personally always done this and it has nothing to do with discrimination or anything like that. I just like to paint an accurate picture of the situation.

So let's say for example I have this coworker. He's Asian and has black hair and black eyes. He always talks about how abusive his girlfriend is yet is reluctant to break up with her.

I do it for White people too though.

I have this neighbor. He's White and blonde with blue eyes. He always plays music super loud and is really annoying.

I do this because for example if the story I'm describing involves a Black friend I don't want people to assume it's a White friend which they might assume if I didn't point out he's Black. That'd be an inaccurate imagination of the story because I don't want people to imagine him as White, he's Black and I want people to picture him as that.

Some people have called me racist or whatever for this but I don't personally see how just simply mentioning someone's race, ethnicity, or nationality could be offensive as long as you're not using it to put down a group of people.

Me pointing out my girlfriend is Mexican though is not that. I don't want people to picture her as White because she's not White.
