Do some mechanics talk down to women, or do they do it to everyone?

Not all of them, but some mechanics seem to talk down to me. At least this is my perception. Is it because I am a woman, or do they just do this everybody? This is "not a women's lib militant question" Genuinely curious. Thanks.

They assume the knowledge is less , generally it probably is but of course many exceptions..

Including when I went back to Australia I worked calling on motor mechanics , not many women.. BUT , one workshop in Seaford all women..

They shouldn't do it , I'd say of my calls though around 50 % did.

I think the ones that do it do it to anyone in the moment. They are in a position of authority where someone is desperate for their car to be fixed and some can be a little arrogant. You know what they say, give a person authority and you will see their true personality.

That happens. It's a very male-dominated environment. They see your lipstick and your fingernails and don't take you seriously for "car talk". Maybe as a butch girl they would.

and they're also way more likely to scam women

They do it to everybody, but they are more likely to do it to anyone they think doesn't understand the devices they work on, such as automobiles.

They probably do because the assume you as a woman are less knowledgeable, and lets be honest, that is a fair assumption to make. It's not that women aren't capable of learning, most just don't have an interest in learning.

They're just rough around the edges. Im sure some may but they may do that to guys too! If I was a mechanic, I would fix your stuff for free! 🤗
