We've gone a long ways from "help elders across the road" to some of the situations of human depravity.
Freddi Rivera case in London killed. A group of females, age 15, 17, 17 confronted 75 yr old at bus stop, cornered, punched him, which lead to him falling and dying.
The girls got sentences of 2 years, 4 and 5 years. Don't agree with charging all of them so much, only the one that struck him, irrelevant.

It would not be easy to defend against a gang of thugs, not legally, not safely, not in my state.

You can't prevent evil. You can only punish evil after the fact, which is why short "slap on the wrist" prison sentences are a joke.
In the Bible, you are told to EXECUTE murderers and rapists the same day they are convicted, "at the mouth of two or three eye-witnesses". So if you can get or preferrably 3 people to agree on what they saw in a murder or rape scenario, the penalty is that the accused is supposed to be immediately executed either by burning at the stake or stoning.
Of course, they didn't have peer juries in Ancient Israel. IN order to sit on a jury, you had to be 50 years old and a Doctor of the Law. In the USA they use incompetent peer juries with no legal qualifications.

They need to be severely punished. Give them 20 years in prison and see how they like it. these people are sick and cannot be rehabilitatred. They just need to be incarcerated so they cannot hurt anyone else.
agree! they won't get a month... it's catch and release, all probably free as it is.
We need harsher punishments for such crimes. And we can start punishing parents for enablement/accomplice/negligence. That would be a good start.

Deterrence and according media indoctrination works. Few criminals get their lives destroyed but better they than their victims.

it help, but look at that dude in the video. he is huge, but not a deterrent to these kids that think they can take his bike and beat the crap out of him. iim 1/2 his size, no way I know enough judo to handle that bunch of kids. a gun is an equalizer, but use it in my state, and prison is guaranteed a mistake is probable.

I don’t understand this. What are these teens? Why couldn’t the guy just swing away real hard and catch one of them in the face and I would’ve changed everything instead he got stomped on the ground. The teens are lucky he didn’t have a handgun. where was this at in Europe? I wouldn’t put up with this no way. Come at these kids swinging hard right down the middle with my left jab then finish them with my right
This man used to be able to bench 300 pounds and run a marathon. I don’t think he’s a kind of guy that would allow teenagers to get him on the ground

@Iron_Man Europe lol... that's East Coast connecticut! It's not totally clear how it unfolded but they attacked him for the bike and took his cell phone, I think he went to get it back.
Swing and hit a teen... and possibly kill them, go to prison.
In CT, you use a gun, you are in big trouble and have to fight your way out of going to prison. You have an obligation to withdraw and cannot shoot unless you fear your life is threatened. In this case, if they "just took his phone and wanted his bike" that is not a threat to life is it!!! No... he'd go to prison if he shot a kid, if he had a gun.
The laws in CT are jacked... that's why we have this kind of brazen crime. And CT just voted to keep it that way.
Thats self-defense when somebody comes at you, you have no idea what they’re trying to do to you. You have to defend yourself that changes the rules around you think I’m gonna let 5 teenagers beat the hell out of me and I can’t hit them back because they’re 17 years old no way I will defend myself and I don’t think there’s a law against defending yourself against any age when they’re being attacked by several of them. That’s basically robbery stealing a bike from the guy. Remember, they are not women some 17-year-olds can be very talented for their age and very skilled and I’m not gonna let 5 guys kick the crap out of me for my bike or what else they want. need more jails. reality is, the politicians won't do that nor punish the kids so much.
