Best way to cram for a speech?

best way to cram for a speech? my speech is due tomorrow at 1 and I got it started but I'm going to cram for it and I was wondering if you guys/girls had some tips that would help. honestly I would appreciate it lol

Use note cards. Note cards or are the best in my opinion, because you can hold them in one hand and use a lot of gestures to emphasize points and only occasionally refer to them if you get stuck. I'd always see people print manuscripts and it was the most BORING thing to watch them read straight from the page. Not only that, often times they'd do things because they were so nervous and they didn't even realize it. Things like rolling up the page, fanning themselves with it, and it just showed how nervous they were. I got a pretty stellar grade in speech class and got perfect scores on my speeches and that's the best advice I'd give you. Also, write your speech out the way you would say it out loud, not the way it sounds good on paper. Your main points are what should be on the note cards. Also rehearse and time yourself (so that you're not under nor over).

Btw, your best chance at getting a good grade is by preparing. You might be one of those that thinks they can wing it but I had a few of those in my class and we could all tell they were just bullsh*tting us and honestly had nothing prepared.

I usually write everything I want to say. Read over it like 50 times through out the day. Then try to just say it without reading. You should have most of it down. Then just add some key phrases or ideas on a flash card to remind you of the order you want to follow and so you don't forget anything.

You should probably start your work a bit more ahead of time.

Otherwise, cramming is cramming. Read over it a few times, then cover your notes or whatever to see what all you've remembered. Rinse and repeat until you feel relatively confident. Then get some rest. Practice it again when you wake up.

You can also time yourself when you're feeling more confident, to see if you're going at a good pace.

I act mine out...I first study it a little...Then, I will walk in front of a room...And, act like people are around me listening..and I will do my speech. And, the part where I mess up, is the part I work on more... It works for me.

honestly, for me just looking over the information and getting sleep works. I had a public speaking & comm. class last Fall, and found that, as long as I knew the material enough, winging it was better than cramming sans sleep.

Are you allowed to use notecards or powerpoints? those help as long as you don't stare at them a lot.

I usually write a good speech, then put together a power point presentation to accompany it. I practice the speech several times and am good to go. When you use a visual aid (power point) you can refer to the data points to help keep your place and it also keeps the audience engaged. You usually do not need to give a speech word for word, so long as you get all the information out there in the right order.
