What metaphors can you apply to that famous story "The Ugly Duckling"?

you know that famous story we were told in kindergarden. were that poor ugly newborn duck gets rejected/neglected by his own family because he was different("ugly" from their point of view). this results him having issues growing up and adapting to the environment as time goes on. but in the end the tables turn as he becomes a big, strong and handsome swan...

so how can you imply this story to real life? I see a millions ways it does. one way I see it is that you should never give up on survival, you can't let you differences slow you down, and that looks don't matter, and to always keep hope alive. but what other morels can you find in this unique story?

I have always thought this story represented those who have it most rough in life starting out and how they their beauty shines through once they learn how to survive. Once the "duckling" found strength within himself and accepted who he was he was able to blossom into something that made those who once looked down on him jealous.

I bought a book called "the geeks shall inherit the earth." and it's about how the people who were geeks and losers in high school become wealthy and successful later on and what accounts for this change.

i can't. why does being ugly bring such unhappiness to people? in reality, ugly kids become ugly adults. I think it's so sad that stories told to little kids are based on nothing but appearance. it makes it seem like unless you're gorgeous life isn't worth living. and this has nothing to do with inner beauty, this story is shallow 100% through

i did not. he was ugly, no one wanted him. he became hot, everyone wants him

but he was ugly from their point of view. that story teaches kids the opposite of what you just said

and that you will learn your lesson after you learn from that hell you when thru, making you stronger at the end. and that there is always hope in the end
