I'm scared college will ruin my relationship!

I've been with my boyfriend for 6 months and I've known him for 3 years. He's not just my boyfriend he's also my best friend. I am completely in love with him and I know he loves me to. he's currently in college. we had a chat the other night about when I start college, and he's scared of me not having enough time for him. I Don't want to lose him, but I don't know what to expect when college starts... someones advice?

You're young. You need to realize and know that when boys and girls are young, monogamy is hard to pull off. Yes, you can have a boyfriend/girlfriend for months/years even. But TYPICALLY it will not last for most couples. When you are young, you want to explore your options. You want to be adventurous and see what kinds of men/women life has to offer you. See where you stand in the thick of relationship/clubs/social environments. Thing is, chances are you will be attracted to other people than your current boyfriend. Because you only know so many people in the world, the more you meet, the more you will compare the outside to the inside of your reality.

If you want to work it out, make it known. Tell him. But a relationship is 50/50. You can't do all the work yourself. You need to know he is in it for the long run too and this will show in his actions. Same goes for you. Have a serious talk about it. Don't leave anything out.

Being straightforward and honest will bring feelings and thoughts out quickly and you will be glad you get your answers now and be disappointed than prolong something that won't last/won't be truly happy and be even more disappointed for wasting your and his time. If you can be friends still know that it won't be easy if you are in a relationship now. In my experience, being friends after being boyfriend/girlfriend is no good. Its better to live your own lives and avoid each other for a long long while.

I can't agree with what Justdance says about being young. I'm in exactly the same situation as you, and I really know I love my girl, and she loves me. Just because we are young, doesn't mean we don't know what love is.. Me and my girl are going to different colleges in a few months, after being in school together, and have just left. We agreed that we are going to make it work, because we love each other.

Stick with this guy, don't let anything like this come between you. You love him right? And he loves you too? Just remember that.

its going to be hard for you both, but as long as you both stay genuine and loyal, there's no reason for it not to work, just keep in touch and sort out any problems as they arise, don't allow it to go on to long, but it will be hard, all sorts of things get offered in college and its hard not to stray from your intentions, good luck,x
