Why do I want this type of high school relationship so bad?

I want to experience a relationship like the typical high school relationship you see in movies or TV shows. Every time I see TV shows with people in a high school relationship or just 2 people like each other and hang out and stuff, it makes me want one for myself. It always makes me so sad/jealous I don't, and probably will never have one. I'm starting to think no guys I have feelings for are attracted to me, and I'm not good enough for any of them. My friends say it's just because I'm too quiet. I know that I can't expect what I see in TV shows, but I really want that kind of experience. It seems so magical. I'm not desperate to the point I'll date anyone, I have expectations. I just wish I could have something like the relationships I see. My parents are quite strict, so the whole partying life, getting drunk, etc. isn't gonna work. I am in grade 10

I think that sure it would be pretty fun or cool, but make sure that you are in a relationship because you genuinely like the guy. I would argue that the end goal of dating is marriage (its that or you get dumped.) and so the context of the relationship doesn't exactly matter. I get very very I suppose nostalgic of high school (even though I am still in it. 1 more week.) so I completely get that aspect of it. I never dated in high school, and my parents were very strict so no parties or drugs or anything like that, but I still had the time of my life! It isn't necessarily defined by a relationship that you have. Relationships are beyond having good memories in high school.

Why do you want that? Because it's a fantasy that it's painted as something perfect, hence why movies have this kind of relationship, because it brings people in, because it's impossible in real life.

Because relationships like the ones you see on TV/movies show only the best moments of health relationships on repeat. They give the illusion that a relationship should involve people who are head over heels for each other 24/7, and have nothing more important to do with their time (ie. attend class, do assignments, go to work) than look in each other eyes and hookup on playgrounds.

You need to stop watching so much garbage tv and get some perspective.

At this point in your life the most important things are your education, your extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and family. Nothing else is going to get you into college and nothing else is going to build a career for you.

Those are the REAL things in your life. Not a midday tv plot.

Man im 22 and even i wished i had a relationship in highschool like that 😅😅 But you gotta realize relationships are different for everybody. So even if you dating someone right now in highschool it might not turn out as good as you expected. Movies make it seem better than it is.

Movies are unrealistic in some aspect. Not everything will turn out perfect like that. And no some guy will find you perfect one day and will want to date you. Thats what a real relationship is all about, finding the perfect someone and being in love with them. It doesn't matter how old you are okay. 😊😊

Well, maybe stop wishing for it altogether.. Maybe don't worry about dating period in High school, and focus more on gettin good grades, or extra curriculum activities, and having fun with yo friends.. Realize that it's made to be romanticized especially if the two people are attractive enough for it to look really cute.. Also, maybe stop watching so many T. V High-school shows..
