Are guys nicer in college?

Or are most of them still immature jerks. Keep in mind I said most, I'm not accusing all of you of being bad! I'm just wondering because I'm starting college this fall. I know it depends on the guy, but in general, what would you say?

I do not mean to insult anyone! I understand girls can be just as bad as guys. I'm not in any way claiming that we are better, please don't think that. I just want to know around what age most guys tend to not care about things like popularity and stuff, when they move on from the whole high school/teenager mindset thing.

I think the playing fields change at the college level. This is the age where children learn to work. They learn manners; they learn that they must be submissive to their superiors; they should learn respect; and they learn that immaturity is rarely tolerated.

I seem to notice that those who work hard and have more respect for others tend to be more prominent in universities/colleges. Geography and culture play a large role on the # of d-bags; though there's gonna be douches and a**holes everywhere.

We might have different definitions of immature jerks; but I say atleast, smart men, the ones on college, (even the a**holes/douches) tend to know better than to ever abuse a women. So that's one-kind of immature jerk that you won't really have to see.

Also, I'd like to make the generalization that a lot of the a**holes back in high school; they either go straight to JC's, and rarely ever finish or they drop out. So kudos to you for working hard:)

I'm not sure what age you start college in the USA. But be it 16 or 18, you will meet quite a few who are still boys. Lads we say in England. We mature much more slowly. At 14, a girl is half a woman, a boy is still a boy. I'd say we're not really grown up until we're about 23 or so. Sadly, some of us stay like that all our lives. I'm not sure what a jerk is - someone who jerks off?

At most colleges or universities (except maybe strict religous ones) you run across a variety of guys (from all over the place). Many of them will want sex (sorry- it is just true), so don't get caught in a guy who talks nice all the time then tries to push you to do sexual things... sorry.. just sayin' Unless you want it, even then I wouldn't...

There will be guys you will make friends with and guys that arevreal cocky bastards (who were raised to be disrespectful to women). There will shy guys and insecure guys, loud obnoxious guys and really nice guys and academically oriented guys.. etc.

Well, any way, there are all kinds of guys in college as there is in life in general.

Finally, yes there will be many immature guys. :-) It will be a fun and new experience, but mostly, do NOT forget to study (I feel like your mom saying that but I am a teacher).

Thanks! I expect a wide variety of people and personalities. I'm just curious to hear what others have to say. :) And yes, I will study HARD! :) It is of course the reason I'm going to college. I'm asking this because I want to make friendships I'm not too worried about boyfriends and dating right now.

They're still growing up. After they get through freshman year it's generally not too bad.

Honestly it depends on the guy though. I'm sure you'll come across plenty of down-to-earth or mature guys.

Depends. The older ones, more likely so than the younger ones. The ones in grad school, more likely than those in undergrad.

I totally admit girls can be absolute jerks too! I'm not saying guys are worse, you don't have to be so mean. I'm just curious because I know guys tend to mature later than girls do, its been proven. If I was a guy I'm sure many guys wonder the same thing about girls.
