Why would a guy randomly message me on Facebook?

We've talked maybe once or twice in person before. I already had him as a friend on Facebook, but he randomly messaged me today just saying hey. To be honest, I get a lot of random guys talking to me.

He met you once or twice, you liked him enough to add on your list...it makes sense to message you with something lighthearted to get to convo going.

Do you not want him to contact you, although you used your free will to add HIM on your list, when frankly you didn't have to?

Well I accidentally had my profile public before and yeah had the same problem ...random guys coming out of nowhere.so with my handy dandy mouse I just put private...problem solved :)
