Got a girl's number a month ago, haven't contacted her yet.

So a month ago I met a girl at my best friend's wedding. We danced a lot, I got her number, hit it off really well, at the end of the wedding we kissed. Asked her to keep hanging out afterward, but her friend pretty much intervened and pulled her away.

The very same week my father is diagnosed with cancer (still dealing with that) and needless to say that pretty much put a halt to EVERYTHING outside of him, work, social life etc. Also that same week I just started pursuing my MBA, so basically a category 10 sh*tstorm and I really just didn't have time or the willingness to do anything about this girl's number, she also lives little further away.

So now that it's been the month, and things have somewhat settled down, even though I'm still dealing with my father's illness (he lives nearby), his financials, documents, my MBA and full time work, things are somewhat more routine now, albeit insanely busy.

How should I go about initiating contact with this girl after such a long period of time, I've never been in this situation. Text/call? What should I open with?

It's a little tricky.

From her point of view - she gave a cute guy her number, and he did nothing about it. She probably just thinks you weren't really interested. So your biggest problem is kind of getting her attention enough to explain. I mean if it were me, and this had happened, I'd take him less seriously if this amount of time had elapsed.

I reckon the best thing to do is drop her a text. Tell her that you're sorry, you meant to get in contact sooner, but a lot of things have gotten in your way over the last month, and you really haven't had the time, or been in the right place, to peruse things in the way you would have liked. Ask if she's still interested then maybe the two of you could meet up sometime to catch up. - Then if she agrees, explain in a bit more detail - how much is up to you - but I'd keep it to the basics. Tell the the outlines but not too much detail too soon unless she asks. Things like this can be a little overwhelming when you first get talking with someone.

Just something like: hey, remember me, I'm such and such from so and so's wedding. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back in touch - things have just been real hectic at the moment. Then say something along the lines of ... if she's still interested, you'd really like it if the two of you could meet up for a bit of a catch-up, and you could explain a bit more why you haven't got in contact yet.

call her! if she is a good women she wouldn't mind your situation if she decided t idate u. she wouldn't mind having small dates even if they are not often but at least in contact with her. but be open, say I would like ot get to know u, but I am going through all of these things how do you feel about that?

when you text her, and I hope you do just said hi do you remember me? tell her your issue and your sorry you didn't call sooner but still want to get to know her and take things slow.

I would say call her, and tell her the surface reasons why you hadn't had a chance to contact her , and that you're still interested...ask her how she's been, and what's she's been doing?

Small talk but certainly let her know why you hadn't contacted her in all this time.

might as well throw it away...noo...lets just say...call her...it might be better to text so she knows who you are...so maybe shoot a text and ask her what's up and tell her who you are

If you just text she'll think she was your plan b. I'd say.. call her. Girls like honest guys. Don't sound too creepy or uninterested. She'll probably understand... If she's still available..
