How legit is the "I need to work on myself" break-up excuse?

My ex broke up with me a week before we were suppose to move in together and he gave me that excuse... that he isn't ready for a relationship, thought he was, but isn't and now has to work and focus on himself... btw... anyone think he'll come back?

Moving in together is a big deal. That's basically surrendering your balls forever and that makes us nervous. Depending on how old he is and where he is in life, it's going to make him nervous. I do for sure know he will think of you and wonder himself what he's missing out on. Just be open to communicating with him and exchanging dialog, since that will be the best way to get him back! Yeah he told me he needs space... so I've been trying to keep my distance which isn't easy. I don't know how much distance I need to give him. Any suggestions?

I think he just has commitment issues wich means he is still immature and doesn't know what he wants so doubt he'll come back.Try to find someone who you know is secure and confident about who they are and know what they want.
