Why do guys consider a girl who wants to be a stay at home mom a gold-digger?

When I was with my first boyfriend I told him I wanted to be a stay at home mom the first 5 years of my kids life if I ever had any. I was still in high school he just graduated college. He didn't have a job or anything and didn't come from a rich family and I already knew that. I told him I just wanted to get a job now so I can afford to be able to be a stay at home mom for that time. I broke up with him eventually. And we were recently talking and he pretty much made me sound like a gold digger. "why haven't you found a rich guy to take care of you since your only goal in life is to be a stay at home mom?"

And a lot of people call me one. I've never used any one for their money. I've always felt like I had to do something for it what I want some kind of work. I even have a savings account put aside that I just deposit in for that reason. And the money is money I've worked for.

I'm confused on how that would make me a gold digger ...

Why is it so bad to want to raise your own kids and not make them spend all day in a day care anyway.

Okay it's not about their incomes I have said that I am saving my own money to be able to stay at home for 5 years with my kids I don't even check their income when I start dating them but always so quick to call me a gold digger when I say what I want to do.
