Does this seem odd / unfair to you?

I work at an indoor waterpark and for safety our policy is we don't allow rash shirts or t shirts in the pools or on the slides, without permission from the manager, which will only be given on the less dangerous slides and in the pools without wave machines. The manager has said to staff she we will give permission for girls/women whatever reason they give, and for men/boys only if they have medical reasons e. g. scars, acne or are obese. Doesn't that seem a bit unfair to assume that guys are not going to have legitimate body image concerns outside those scenarios?

It's almost as if she's designed the policy specifically to be able to look at as many attractive shirtless men as possible 😂 (which to be fair is something all the female staff enjoy doing)

Very much so. I can understand restricting it to certain areas, but come on; forcing people to be uncomfortable is no good.

And heck, it'd be pretty self-selecting to tell you which guys wouldn't have a problem with you ogling them.

It does seem unfair, but it could also be that since you said the manager is a female, that she is a bit self conscience and can relate to that and is understand of other girls who might be, she can't relate to guys feeling that way.

A bit of an older post, but this is almost the same as the waterparck in my place. Different standards for women and men; women can wear anything, whilst men have to have shorts that are no longer than a set standard and be shirtless unless there's a strict medical reason not to. Management is female, and so is the board of directors, so I call bullshit on the basis on the grounds of "health reasons".

If it's a rule, it is probably there for a reason (s). So, no I do not see it as unfair.
