I love anything to do with water…snorkeling, competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, water skiing (one ski)…but my favorite is bodysurfing and you would most likely find me in the water at The Wedge in Newport Beach, California. Here’s what it looks like on a good day
I played first string first baseman in park league baseball from 8 to 13 years old. Our team won several trophies.
I played lots of other sports with my friends at the park and in vacant fields.
I started body surfing and belly boarding in my early teens, then took up surfing when I was around 15. I did that for about 10 years until I got a good job and got too busy.
I did some pretty gnarly "old school" skateboarding before there were skateboard parks. Like down hills and on the sides of the concrete river channels.
I liked snow skiing in the winter.
I played Frizbee a lot.
I liked to go on hiking adventures all over and went on several 2 week long backpacking trips in the high Sierras and once in Yellowstone.12 Reply- 1 y
I have never skateboarded, but love watching it. You should have seen the guys on the hills in San Diego and San Francisco! Did you ever do Mt Whitney? I used to live in Lone Pine.

Well, Beach Girl' Bruce, like 'Charlie', don't surf', but I did get Diver certified, but have not dived since COVID, when my great dive buddy, died of Cancer.
I intend to get Nitrox Certified next month with my local dive shop, and try to get back into the sport. I have been diving in a 7mm 'BARE' wet suit and bought a 3/5mm hooded vest because of the cold water off the coast (as you well are aware of)
I may invest in one of the newer BARE suits with a different fabric, that is supposedly warmer the the conventional 7mm
How 'bout you taking up diving?
04 Reply- 1 y
I’ll take the big waves in a teeny tiny bikini & I’ll dive under snorkeling,, but you will NEVER get a tank on me and get me that far under!! How ‘bout you do it and tell me all about it? lol
- 1 y
@Caroline91 I have been to just over 100 feet at Catalina, and that was probably as deep as I will ever want to dive... I am more comfortable at depths of 45-50 feet, and had been down to 70-75 feet when diving with my Dive Buddy -Chuck
- 1 y
That's impressive. As I recall, doesn't Catalina have fairly clear water? https://youtu.be/3dPaeUGrmdA
- 1 y
@Caroline91 Yes the water is very clear there, AND COLD. I got some very good GOPRO video out there when diving with chuck
1 yI personally love to run... and swim...

m 1 yIt bounces around, at moment it’s Archery which is about 12 hours a week, then we have a couple hours 5 a side at work during the week, last year I played a fair bit of rugby but only been to training this year, other than that it’s Mountain biking. Not sure if running counts as a sport when not competing. I also play some cricket as well.
For watching, it’s Rubgy, football, cricket, rally (motorsports),
13 Reply- 1 y
@rebelinsteel I could really go for mountain biking. That could be a rush, almost as much as free falling down the face of a BIG wave and into the abyss!
- 1 y
@Caroline91 Downhill is very much like that.
- 1 y
@rebelinsteel That’s what I was envisioning. I was going to say it would be a much harder landing, but at least there’s no possibility of drowning. Lol. Thankfully I’ve only come close twice.

m 1 ythe one I play the most and do enjoy to play the most no doubt... football soccer, so I am going with that one
to watch, I prefer American Football, the NFL... there's just so much more going on and way more often, so that's far more entertaining and interesting to me as well10 Reply
1 yI run and swim. I would bicycle too, but my bike expired during covid and everyone was gouging at the time. So i waited. And then i just kind of forgot. It’s my least favorite of the three anyway.
I watch MMA. It supplanted boxing. I still occasionally watch hockey. I grew up with that and baseball. I watch as much of the Olympic games as i can, except the sports in which they changed the rules so professionals could compete. Fuck that and fuck them.01 Reply- 1 y
Yeah, it really impacted the whole point of the olympics by letting pros in didn't it? I agree with you on that.
1 yOh! You're into water sports? Kinky!!

Water skiing with just one ski? That's just surfing!
They could at least include some REAL surf music!!010 Reply- 1 y
Makes me want to dance the Flamingo... Olé!

Do you dance the flamenco with those flamingos?
- 1 y
No, Silly... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFUC5ROtN8M
- 1 y
I don't see any flamingos in there!
- 1 y
And you never will! Perhaps a Monkee or two if you look very closely..:
- 1 y
Monkees do the monkey.
- 1 y
How's about the Pony? Do Monkees do that?
- 1 y
This one used to. I knew ALL the latest dances, growing up! My aunt and her best friend, next door, would teach me every new dance that came along and I was a great dancer.
- 1 y
I bet you were! I paid attention to other members of my family that did all those dances..:Wahah wah ah ah do the watusi
Magnet Fishing (I know not a sport)
Alternatively I would play Billards (Pool)
12 Reply- 1 y
Well, billards definitely does fall under the sport category... and magnet fishing falls under the interesting category! lol
1 yJust swimming is good enough for me. The sea scares me a little.
13 Reply- 1 y
Why’s that?
- 1 y
the strong waves, the deep blue, not knowing what's lurking below
- 1 y
I get it. It’s just always been such an integral part of my existence that it’s a part of me.😊
1 yBiking, hiking, gym now. Used to be futbol, roller hockey, softball.
11 Reply- 1 y
Ooo I left softball out of my list!. Good one!
I've tried different sports, but I would say at this time Ultrarunning. Im just getting back into it for the first time in 7 years.
13 Reply- 1 y
Geez…That’s impressive! How is that in your feet?
- 1 y
Well, this last Saturday again was my first experience in 7 years and surprisingly, I had no thick dead skin on my feet.
Just sore for a few days, on my legs. Of course like anything else, if you do it quite often ur body adapts, but this one in particular I tried was like 95% inclines on mountains, so my legs cramped up.
It's an interesting sport to get into if you like the outdoors. Different events, different lengths... I'm sure u get the idea. - 1 y
I get the idea, but I think I’ll stick to ballet and contemporary dance if I want to beat my feet up and I just don’t see myself doing ultra running in my tutu!
1 yI don't think I do any sport and if I did, it would be contactless sport. Lol. Like a game of lawn balls or a bocci/boci I always forget how it's spelt. Something like that.

1 yI really was into badminton however didn’t have anyone to compete with so I rarely touch the sport anymore. I was also into soccer/kickball and have no one else to compete with either.
Oh well.

1 yRugby is my main sport, but I can turn my hand to almost all sports! As for watching? Football (not American)
07 Reply- 1 y
Yeah, I'm American and I can't watch American football lol
I gotta be honest.. Ever since I saw a movie about a 100 ft tidal wave.. Going in to the sea has been a bit of a no no for me.
- 1 y
It's really not a problem if you know what to look for and when to head for high ground. Just like earthquakes aren't that big of a deal if you know what to do when on hits. I'll hold your hand and we'll run for high ground together lol
Earthquakes and tidal waves?
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a bit of thrill seeking, but I do draw the line those two!! :))- 1 y
Lol... Then rugby it is! I'm from California and have lived On the Pacific coast side of South America, so I am accustomed to earthquakes. Usually, I just roll over and go back to sleep or continue on with whatever I am doing. On occasion, I dive under a solid piece of furniture or run to stand under a doorway if I think it is going to get worse bc once it does, you can't move and want to be protected from things falling on you. There are two different kinds of earthquakes, a jarring/shaking one and a rolling one. The rolling ones are more fun but actually do more damage. You can tell who is used to being in earthquakes, first by how they behave during the quake and, second, by whether they know to run to turn off any natural gas lines as fast as they can right after it stops. Now, there you have a whole mini lesson on earthquakes and how to survive one. Come on out for a visit! lol
Yeah I can't wait!! He says... after hiding his passport :P
- 1 y
Lololol. Where are you from?
I am on the track and swim teams at my college and love them both and they keep me in incredible shape
10 ReplyI don't watch any organized corporate sports. They are all woke. I only watch independent athletes that aren't woke who have not been censored yet.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yVery cool! I grew up surfing and bodysurfing in SoCal. I bodysurfed The Wedge many times. Never had the nerve to try surfing it. That video is not The Wedge though.

Opinion Owner1 ySnow skiing is my sport now. I moved to the Rockies to ski and never went back. SoCal is kind of a disaster these days. I miss the ocean but that's about it.
- 1 y
No it isn’t but I was wanting to shiow a good video of body surfing and couldn’t find one at the wedge. That’s why I commented that The Wedge is where I would be. I don’t think it’s the best place for surfing because of the type of waves you get there. Unfortunately, I can’t board surf bc I am a bit klutzy and don’t have great balance on a board. Have you ever seen the big statue of the surfer in Encinitas? Where’s your favorite surf spot?
- 1 y
Yeah I don’t live there any more and there are a lot of things I miss, but aloti of things I don’t miss which is why I left. I am 8th generation Californian and it will always be home.
Opinion Owner1 yYeah I've see that statue, pretty cool. I surfed Encinitas a few times because my friend's dad lived there so if there was a favorable swell in the forecast we would head down and stay there for a few days and just surf. I grew up in Redondo Beach and my local spot was either the Manhattan pier or El Porto. We traveled a lot to surf though, so I surfed all up and down from Oxnard to San Diego. Some of my favorites were Huntington pier, and the Redondo break wall when it was big enough. I spent a lot of time in Mexico too, although I probably wouldn't go back now as it's not safe anymore.
Thanks for chatting. It's a small world. That's a great video by the way.- 1 y
I grew up in San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, right on the Seal Beach/Long Beach line in Naples. We used to participate in "dressing" that statue lol. Loved heading out to Redondo pier for clam chowder Yum! Nice to share memories.

@TommyMountainFigure that’s good! ☺️

Love Bowling. What size ball do you use?
- 1 y
I use an 8 or 10
- 1 y
I use a 12. Would prefer 10 but like the pin action better with the 12 so I tolerate it lol
<<Uses a 16 lb
- 1 y
@TommyMountainFigure Yeah, that's when yo get some real pin action going. I love to watch that!
I almost beat my average tonight.. Damn well blew it on the final game though.
- 1 y
I can’t pick up a 12 cause it’s heavy and also the holes to put my fingers in are too big
- 1 y
I got little hands lol
- 1 y
If you bowl a lot, it's worth getting your own ball and having the holes custom drilled. A custom 10 would probably be a good choice for you.
Awww bless @LaurenM1997
@Caroline91 Going through the whole rigmarole of getting it back, every time it gets stuck in the feeder machine is a real pain though. They get fed up when you have to call them out 2 or 3 times in a session.
- 1 y
@TommyMountainFigure Yeah, I hear ya.
I love football (soccer).
