What are your thoughts on Major League Baseball reinstating Pete Rose?

So, I never heard of ‘Pete Rose’ until today (I don’t know a lot about MLB) and after researching for how to structure my response to the news, all I can say is yikes.

Statutory rape allegations , went to prison for tax evasion , and gambling on baseball with sports betting. And they reinstated him!

Pete Rose is a horrible human being and a disgrace to the world of MLB especially with betting on your own sport! Like you could make an argument, “ummm that controversial stuff was outside baseball” and I could agree, though for a MLB Player to gamble on the sport he played on and is forever associated with is really downright stupid to defend.

Oh also on my search, I found out he gambled on his own team.
Wasn’t just some random team, but his team which caused him to be lifetime banned from MLB in the first place. I don’t think he should be reinstated for all these reasons.

I have a feeling that after Pete Rose dies, his ban will be lifted, but he will never experience that.

@SarahP080106 Barry Bonds used performance enhancing drugs to unethically pad his stats to have Hall of Fame worthy numbers. Barry Bonds in no way deserves to be inducted in the baseball Hall of Fame. Pete Rose however has legit numbers and needs to take his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.

The Hall Of Fame is a baseball MUSEUM. It’s not the Hall Of Morality. Tell the story of the game throughout the eras. Don’t leave this guy or that guy out because of bad behavior. It’s fucking baseball, it doesn’t matter.

The Pete Rose thing was petty. Should he have been gambling? No. Does he seem like kind of a dick? Maybe. Was he one of the greatest players of his time? Resounding YES. And that’s the sole criterion.
