Relegation doesn't work in baseball because the minor league teams are owned by the major league teams. You can't have the Yankees playing against their own minor league team who they can poach players from whenever they need them.

In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona have B teams in the second division, so it's possible

@Jltakk I ran this by my boyfriend because it's way above my knowledge but he says the B teams are not eligible to be promoted into the same division as the parent club.

In most soccer leagues, the worst teams get removed at the end of the season and sent to a lower division and the best ones from the lower division get moved up.
