How does locker room work when a female team has a male coach?

I've seen it in both professional and school sports, I imagine he wants to talk strategy during half-time, but I also imagine the players want to wash and change, so how does that work?

When I was in high school, we usually had 2 captains who would stay out and talk to him for a minute real quick and they'd come in with whatever his first thoughts were, and then we'd usually just leave the locker room about 2-3 minutes earlier than we'd need to and he'd say some things out in the hallway to us before we went back out. If it was before the game, everyone would just get dressed before he came in to talk.
