And last night controversy errupted after a Croatia goal was waved off, because the player was offside, even though the ball bounced off the head of an opponent before reaching him.

Totally get your frustration 😅 Modern offside with VAR has become microscopic and kills the flow. Technically, all those calls are correct under current rules: any body part you can score with counts, and “interfering with play” is interpreted very strictly.

I’d love to see a “daylight” rule or a larger margin of error, so attackers get the benefit again. Football should reward attacking intent, not freeze-frames and toenails. ⚽️

VAR technology has become an overreach. Intended originally to assist the referee, it has become something that overrides the referee., making decisions the referee was never involved in.

Rules changes should always be on the table for consideration, for the benefit of the game.
