Marines are in fact much better at fighting than "unskilled fighters". There's nothing wrong with the MCMAP, the problem is there simply isn't enough time to train soldiers like they did 500 years ago for hand-to-hand combat, since they need to learn to use machine guns, grenades, missiles, tanks, etc.

In an organized sport, 90% of the moves and lethality are removed. Even if it's the exact same fighting style. Take the rules away, and they will kill you.

Because they are professional soldiers, not martial artists. They train primarily with modern weapons and hand-to-hand combat would be their last line of defense.
