USB was not invented in israel it was developed by Compaq, DEC, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NEC and Nortel.

the usb thumb drive device (which is presumably what you meant) was first developed in malaysia though m-systems developed the first commercial product.

You mean, the first Intel *CPU* (the i8088) used in IBM PCs was designed in Israel. The first IBM PC was designed in Clearwater, Florida, and it was definitely NOT the first personal computer.

But Israel has been a high-tech center for a long time. They've got acknowledged and respected aerospace, missile, and other high-tech, advanced weapon and defense designs, and are the home of some of the world's best computer security companies.

The 8088 processor was designed in Israel, not the personal computer. However, Intel still does a lot of its chip designs in Haifa and Tel Aviv.
