What is kik? What is it used for?

People keep asking me "for my kik". I understand it is like a messaging app but what is the difference between talking there and talking in any other app? If anything I would think people would rather use snapchat for the fun filters.

Kik is a phone app that people use to communicate (anonymous, even, if they prefer). It's a place to send messages to someone without giving them your name, phone number, and all of that stuff. So, if you're chatting with someone online and you're not sure if they can be trusted or if you like them, kik is an alternative option to texting. If it doesn't work out, then you can simply say your goodbyes and block them. They have no phone number to blow up with calls and texts.

People choose kik because it's easy to use and you don't *have* to share your image. I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I don't use Snapchat is simply because I have no reason to. The person I talk to is on Kik and Skype only. To me, Snapchat seems like one of those apps that teenagers use to send 1000 pictures to their friends. (I don't have friends, so I don't care about that.) With Kik, you can send long messages, save your messages, send pictures, send videos, talk on camera, and even join groups.

... If you're in a chat room and people ask for your kik, it's because the conversation is more easily accessible and they want to keep talking, OR because they want to send private images and have "fun." Sure, you can use any app for that, but some people simply have their preferences. They use what they're most familiar with.

I've noticed Kik is used for people that don't want to give out their private number and when I started dating I got guys that were married or in a relationship that used it as well.

kik is popular for a few reasons. but what is highly important that you should know is that this kik app, among others is very easy for hackers to hack though.
