Is "fetlife" a legal and safe website?

It says that it's like Facebook but with kinks and fetishes. It's gotten criticism for various reasons, specifically for it's secrecy in which it's posts can only be seen by it's members.

It is as legal and safe as what you are doing. If you are arranging prostitution, that is likely illegal. If you are planning to meet a stranger for them to shove a hot soldering iron up your urethra, that is likely unsafe.

Also, remember, unless you get to know people in your local community who can vouch for people, fetlife can make no guarantees that the people you are meeting are safe or being honest.

That being said, most people I know on fetlife are rather awesome people. I haven't tried using it for hookups though.

Yes, it's legal but not super safe. It's full of would-be "Dominants" who don't have a clue or worse, are in it to abuse people. Also, things are kept secret for a reason - many of us have professional and/or social lives that would be ruined in word got out about things that are discussed on Feb life.

I recommend that if you choose to use it, look up a local group that suits your interest and get a mentor in that group (if you're a Dom or sadist) or what we call a "protector" if you're a sub or masochist.

I have spoken with people on here who have used it and they are okay with it. As with any site, you should exercise caution. As for its secrecy, that is both to promote money for the site and a bit of assurance that what is posted is kept within the community that has signed up and given some information to help avoid people using it improperly.

I'm a member, it is legal and the reason it's posts are secure is because many people post nude or compromising images. There is a lot of discussion within the site about legality and limits thereof. As membership is free it's not too big of a burden to join.
