Did you know this about Google Maps?

As of March 2021, Google Maps have started defaulting to the route with the lowest carbon footprint, rather than the fastest, in a bid to make it more eco-friendly.

I am sure that many eco warriors will embrace this but it pisses me off. I have been relying on Google Maps to chart the fastest route and now I am learning that might not have been the case

Well I never used them but they are stupid so its not surprising. Though technically what ever gets you their faster should be the one that burns the least amount of gas so I don't think it would be that different. But in general, fuck google.

Oh I try to avoid them if I can (its hard though because these mega corporations own so much). I hate big tech and their political bullshit. I was a fan of them years ago.

I thought that their mapping services were an excellent addition to the modern world.

It's fun that they're still trying to push this whole carbon emissions thing. Even though its not causing climate change. Climate change is driven not by carbon but by hydrogen. Turns out that works even better if you're Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Forget about having just 2 kids. I could have 100 kids and it wouldn't increase the carbon content of the atmosphere to anywhere NEAR the extent of their existence. So perhaps they ought to kill themselves to save the planet?
