Why did they continue making the Ipod Touch after the Iphone came out?

I didn't even know it still existed. I just saw today that this is the last one they will produce. I figured they stopped coming out with them in like 2010

because some people just want a device with music only... without all the distraction of a smartphone

and they also want it cheaper, and more powerful... as most of the device resources would be dedicated to the sound experience

smartphones have TERRIBLE quality sound for music, and calls in general
