Is it a scam if a landlord you met on Craigslist asked for my full name, last 4 of social, and date of birth?

I actually talked to him on the phone and most scammers don’t speak on the phone. I gave em 35 for application fee

He could be looking at your background. Could be a scammer but I don’t know and scammers do talk on the phone.

I have never rented an apartment so I can't be certain of what is normal. However, if you enroll in school, they ask those questions and more so it makes sense that an apartment owner would want to know who he is renting to.

I reported it to the social security fraud team. The scammer was white too and they say whites aren’t criminals. I don’t think he’s gonna still my identity but he did get 35 bucks outta me. I should get it back with my bank
