What sounds like a reasonable quote to install a new A/C compressor?

I'm getting the new part delivered soon and will have a mechanic help me install it. Please tell me what would be a reasonable installation quote so I don't get taken advantage of

You'd be better off looking up how to do it on YouTube and getting someone to help you with it. It's not a quick and easy task. I know because I spent the entire day at my parents' house working on the exact same thing with my dad.

Don’t take it to a mechanic shop they have so much overhead they’re going to charge an arm and a leg instead have a mobile mechanic come out to your house and he can do it for much cheaper also known as Shadetree mechanics just get a warranty and a receipt and make sure you act like you know what you’re talking about

Call your local car dealerships. We don't know what part, what model and where you are.

An exotic car for example may cost more simply due to more complexity of the installation

The problem is not so much the compressor, it's everything that potentially has to be done with it. Depending on the age of the car, it might not be worth it
