How to get sound back after update?

My Chromebook sound went out after I updated it I checked the volume and it not muted and the volume all the way up so I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how to fix it.

Check to see if the sound applet is set to the right hardware of if the app you are using has it's own volume control
