Can someone help me with something technical?

I recently bought an MP3 player, the San Disk. Little did I know that you can't download music onto it unless you have a computer with a USB port. My MacBook Pro only has a charger and a place for your earphones. Now, I'm installing GarageBand on my Iphone with the hopes of being able to download the files into the San Disk. Is this possible? I'm looking at Youtube videos on how to do it now, ns thought if I ran into problems maybe someone can guide me.

You need a male USB type-c to female USB type-a which can be had pretty cheaply on Amazon.

I think that's what I need, but I wouldn't know how to use it. Arrrgh...

You connect the male end of the cable to the macbooks charging port, and the female end to the MP3 players USB cable. Once connected, MP3 player should show up as if it were a usb drive. But the second problem your running into is your trying to download music from YouTube music to your MP3 player, which which requires a 3rd party program/website which is technically illegal. You can legally download music from YouTube music for offline listening, but you can only play the music through the YouTube app on the device they were downloaded on. This is why I always buy CD's it's quick and simple to transfer the music to my MP3 player plus CD's offer slightly better quality then streaming.

My daughter had something where she could find me music from a list I made on Youtube, and then she'd put it on a blank CD. She has misplaced whatever it is called. Was that also breaking the law? Uh oh.

Depends on what the program is doing, if it's taking the music from your playlist and downloading them from YouTube or another sites free of charge then technically that is breaking the law. But if the program is simply taking your YouTube playlist and adding the songs to a cart on a site like Amazon, then it's perfectly legal as your paying to download them , than once downloaded your free to do what you want with them as long as it's personal use, and transferring to MP3 player or burning them to CD's counts as personal use. I almost never purchase songs for download, as it's usually cheaper to just buy it on CD.

If you don't have a usb port to connect an oldschool mp3 player to your pc/mac it doesn't matter where the mp3 music comes from.

You need the music or audio books as mp3 data on your pc in a folder and send them via usb to your mp3 player.

Where you get the mp3 is not the top priority, you may convert cds to mp3 or download music from youtube, or you may have mp3 data from itunes or illegal sources...

I'm trying to download music from Youtube music that I have on a library list there. But on the Sandisk, you can only do this from a computer, and on my laptop (MacBook Pro) there is no place for a usb, which the Sandisk comes with.

Yeah, so you can't use the Mp3 player. I guess you can look online for an adapter so you can connect a usb device.

However i can also imagine the stuff you downloaded via youtube music doesn't work either.

Spotify for example does download music but you can't play them without the app.

@EaterPeter ... actually I think there is one for that. But, the asker said that hers was USB. So I took that at face value and found the USB to USB-C that she could use on her Mac or iPad.

This question has already been answered so I will skip that part. My question is why you bought an mp3 player. It's 2023. Your phone can be used as an mp3 player.

Because I wanted to use it in a fitness center on the treadmill, and this comes with a clip. My phone doesn't.
