Strobing brake lights, good or bad?

I have noticed there are some cars that have strobing brake lights. They are really distracting.

I don't like them. You can't tell if the car is slowing down or the driver is just pumping the brakes hoping they work.

The fact that they are only on a few cars makes it worse.

Does anyone know who got the idea to strobe the brake lights? AFIK, it's not required by NTSA, FHA or any other organization.

I never had issues with not understanding what it means when brake lights come on. Why mess with this?

It is not so much understanding what they mean, it is rather the whole issue of noticing them quickly enough. Where I live, a lot of people drive too damn close to the car in front of them.

Haven't seen any, but my guess would be those hoodlems that love to break our laws might have put them on their cars to be cool. They are probably against the law, but you best of all would know that there aren't any laws anymore in America and it's one big free for all.
You don't actually believe our 5 million new neighbors actually even know what a law is 🙃

There is a dealership near me that installs those on every car they sell.

I asked about it, and researched it afterwards. Supposedly, it increases awareness over a steady brake light, because the pulsing theoretically is more noticeable, and attention-grabbing.

I can see how that may be true, but it's also f*cking irritating as all hell when you're behind them. They're fairly common on Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles around here, because of said dealership, and I despise them.

I see them all the time, very dangerous when its dark and raining and already hard to see things... they are too bright is the real issue. My eyes adjust to the light and now I can't see shit.

Lol they only annoy me at night on the highway and theirs Hella traffic other then that no but the trucks with the high LEDS that are so bright damnit I don't even do that to my shit so why the fuck are they doing that hahaha

I hate them. They really annoy me. The first time I saw them I thought the guy was putting on his Hazzard lights. I started to go around him and almost got in an accident. They should be banned from highway use
