Why do the folders on my desktop suddenly have red X's or green check marks?

Does this have anything to do with the cloud? I got some kind of notification about it being full even though I never had it turned on or syncing. And some of the images in the folders have the 2 mountains and moon image instead of the pic. What's going on here?

Most likely yes: if your machine loses connection or the folders (or OneDrive for example) drop their connection, you'll get the red Xs or green check marks because it hasn't syncd. What I cannot tell you is precisely why, I'm sorry.

@daniela1982 ... I did a little research on this. Most things said that if this is not something to do with having Microsoft OneDrive then it's the folder path where those folders are. Yes, it means that they have copies in your One Drive.

I guess it wasn't syncing as I was not signed in on One Drive. The checks marks and X's have disappeared now.
