Can anyone drive a Tesla?

A man in Canada used his app to unlock the Tesla, got in and started driving. Only later did he realize it wasn't his car. He had gotten into a car similar to his and drove away. He turned around and went back to where his car was. He met the owner of the car, who thought it was funny.

Interestingly, Tesla, which was contacted about this, has not responded.

Tesla is a dumpster fire of a company owned by a dumpster fire of a human being. Like Mr. T: "I don't pity the foo'" who buy them.

Additionally, in regards to the implications of this innocent mixup: sadly, ALL new cars have several new ways of breaking into them due to the proliferation of proximity keys for ignition, keyless start and keyless entry, etc. Instead of car thiefs manually hot wiring cars like in the old days, now it's done by ripping the coded signal from people's keys, either from when the owner uses it, or just from someone walking by you with a scanning device to rip the code from the key.

In addition to all the old ways of stealing cars, all this needless technology has introduced even more ways of stealing your car than ever. It's become a huge issue throughout the entire auto industry.

Bit like iPhones, I suppose. It's all the same shit, so once you've cracked getting into one, the world is an oyster.

Tesla aren't very good in the software department, though. So it is a big weakness they have. Even Elon has done a shit job at Twitter as his coding team isn't up to much.

I remember hearing years ago about burglars buying window locks at a popular hardware chain. There was only a handful of keys made so they effectively bought keys to most homes in the area.
I wonder if criminals will start trading in access apps in the same way

Uh, yeah, if Tesla actually does respond to this, I wonder what their explanation will be. You would think there would be enough codes to cover all of them with a different code.

The maintenance guy in my building drove a black GMC Yukon. It looked just like my Black Chevy Tahoe. One day i mistook it for my vehicle and opened the door with my key. Once I sat in the drives seat I realized I was in the wrong truck.

Okay a Tesla is one thing but wow the fact that your key worked on another car! Or do you mean the push button kind? Either way GMC and Chevy vehicles look the same but are not the same company so thats even scarier

@DizzyDesii yes, my key worked in his truck. both vehicles are practically identical. When I was in college I had a chevy nova. My roommate had a Nova as well but his was 3 years older than mine. His key would fit in my car.

@DizzyDesii GM keys used to have a 4 character code. If you lost your keys you can go to any GM dealership and get new ones made if you have those codes.

If these two vehicles got mixed up how many others. Seems like they'll probably be a lot of auto fast if they don't sell the situation.
