So I p*ssed off a scammer… am I in danger?

So basically, you know those texts you get from scammers pretending to be Royal Mail or Apple wallet? Well I fell for it and gave them my card details. I don’t usually fall for these things but because I had an incident at a restaurant a few weeks back with it not recognising my card, I didn’t click this time and thought it was genuine that they took my card off. I realised what I had done after about 40 minutes and disabled my cards.

So today I got a call from those scammers pretending to be my bank to tell me I’ve been scammed. They were going to take more of my details by doing that. Anyway, they said my name and said they’re calling from my bank and I said “No you’re not. STFU” and hung up. He dropped the act and started cussing me out and left me 4-5 missed calls. I didn’t pick up. Anyway he stopped after a few minutes.

I forgot that he actually has my home address because of those card details… now I’m nervous that the harassment might continue tomorrow or get worse for me. You never know who these people are, I’m just hoping he’s not a psycho gang member that would take this too far. Any advice?

Ok so, I have an update. He hasn’t called me ever since that day. Thought it was going to be fine, but he’s called again today. I’m not 100% sure if it’s him since I didn’t pick up but I’ve had another No Caller ID number calling today and it rang twice. I’m pretty sure it is him. Anyway, I’ve blocked no ID callers from my phone from now on. If anything else happens, I’m just going to report it.

Change your number and oil your guns.

If you get something in the mail that doesn't look right, don't open it, and learn to recognize the stamps or scan the barcode on the package if it went through customs... I think you can do it with your phone. There should be a tracking number under the barcode and you can look that up online.

You didn't say if they were Tai, Indian, or so on so I'll pretend they're Nigerian. They're fucking poor and they run this scam business literally in homemade offices sometimes like it's real work... Was there a bunch of noise in the background... like phones ringing and shit like that? Anyways... If you don't live in a Nigerian hood, I wouldn't say not to worry too much. If you do though... be extra effing careful. Move ASAP. But remember they're poor. I'm talking poor as dirt. They can't afford to do much more than be pissed off. Personally, I love their calls because I troll the shit out of them. I give them fake names, and addresses of people I hate, and so on.

Anyways, learn your lesson. Even the IRS doesn't ask for that information over the phone. They're not allowed to by law. I got one guy pretending to be some national security shit (Indian) and he already knew my name and address on his own. He had me fooled. When he went for that other sort of info to verify I didn't purchase drugs from Mexico... I called him out on that. Told him to send some agents to my house. He was tripping over his own words after that.

I’m from the UK- no guns lol. This person is defo from the UK because he had the lower class road man London accent. Most people outside of the UK are into familiar with one or two accents, they wouldn’t pick that one. That’s mostly where my concern is coming from, the fact that he knows my address and is potentially somewhat local. Like 2 hours away or closer.

A lot of burglars get caught because they try to rob the same place twice. I don't think scammers are much different than burglars in that respect.

From the way I understand most of those operations working, if they're successful at all they buy number lists, call until they get success, sell the info, and keep hitting up the people they're successful with. Mostly those scams are successful with old people, like around here they just call saying they're with the police union, google business, etc.

On the flip side, if they are dangerous at all, you could just call a PI with the numbers they called from, spend maybe tops like 100 dollars to run it through their number list, and see who's calling you. At the end of the day, even if their business is in the grey or illegal, it's still a business, why would they try to hurt you rather than just keep you on a call list because you fell for it once and keep hitting you up with different scams.

I think you are just overthinking the whole situation, scammers like harassing people, and you messing them around, they don't care.

No gangster is going to kill you or phone you. Gang members is not interested in the average person, unless you doing something real serious to them, like steal from them, or kill one of them.

If your not involved in a gang, and don't any harm to them, they won't bother you. I have messed scammers around a lot.

all need to need to do, is ignore or block their calls and messages. Just don't answer it. If it is really bad, just samsung phone, they are very good for that. I hardly get any scam calls now, might get the odd message. Iphone are shit for blocking scam calls.

The reason scammers are harassing you, is because they hoping you break down and you will give them your details, its called the dripping tap method, or bullying someone. You harass someone, and they are weak, they give in. This why elderly people get taken advantage of.

Considering they had to scam you to get money out of you, normally scammers are cowards, or they would have robbed you at gun point or with a knife or something, they are most likely not even from your country, and normally when a scammer finds a target that falls for it, they will continue to try and scam that person cause they believe the person is a fool, he didn't expect your shit talk, so you hit him in the feels 🍼 lol

If I know scammers they scam cause they are cowards, buy a sword, if he pulls up on you, he will most likely have a knife, you can fillet his ass, I doubt he will try anything, if you feel the need too you can always call police and give them the information that you have.

Never cared for guns. It’s one of the reasons why I wouldn’t live in the States lol. However, we have some stupid laws like banning pepper spray and other protective items to keep us safe in public. The most we can do is keep alarms that draw attention to us if something strange is happening

The Turkish scammers calling German retirees speak perfect German, because they have worked for years in Germany or are second generation immigrants. Still, they do their dirty work from Turkish soil, so they can't be found that easily. Scammers going after Britons and Americans are often operating from India or Pakistan.

There are many accents from the UK, and most people from the UK only know of 2 of them most of the time. I have no doubt he’s actually from the UK/London. Those scammers are too busy scamming other people to take time to harrass you. Block the number that they called from and report it as scammers.
I've gotten so many of those calls. I usually keep them going so I waste as much of their time as I can. Plus it's a lot of fun

Regarding update, why don't you call your bank and tell them about this guy that keeps calling you. Ask them if there is any issues with your account. If they say no then if the scammer calls back tell him that you are on a recorded line. I bet he will hang up and not call again
