It used to be the case that all we had to do was sign in, so why does 'YouTube' now require us to provide personal ID information as well? How the hell can they be allowed to get away with this? Surely it can't be legal.

As far as I know, YouTube does not require personal ID information for regular users to sign in and use the platform. However, for some specific features such as uploading videos, making money from ads, or joining the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), YouTube does require verification of your identity to prevent spam, fraud and ensure compliance with legal requirements such as taxes and copyright laws. While it is understandable to have concerns about providing personal information, it is necessary for some features to be available and most online platforms have some form of verification process to ensure security and compliance. YouTube's terms of service and privacy policy provide information about what information may be collected and how it will be used, so it is important to review them carefully before providing any personal information.
Are they not doing this with Porn Hub sites. Just use a VPN and list yourself as living in a another country. I am in the US and I change the VPN country to Germany.
I remember reading about this. I think they did this in the UK, EU and NZ obviously, and a few others. But the US hasn't implemented this. So it has to do with the laws of the country, not YouTube policy. I forgot what they said their reasoning was, but surely it was something stupid. The EU especially has gotten really strict with YouTubers.
I didn't know you could download videos that you aren't able to playback. You can always also just turn on VPN, and set your location to the US. That should bypass any blocks, your government has instituted.
I can't believe they're naiive enough to think people will actually share that stuff and that there are some who are actually stupid enough to do it. It's not a porn site🤣
I actually completely forgot about this until you brought it up.
I've only ever been required to sign-in when the content is of an adult nature, which makes sense to me.

Nanny state, endless tracking and tracing, information harvesting, etc, etc...
cause there's no other way to keep minors out.
They care about minors security but they dont care about security of our personal information🤨 i's nonsense I think they're after something else
it’s****
lol are you kidding? they make money with your "personal information". of course they care about that a lot. and they will make very sure they're not missing out on any of the data. your privacy is none of their concern. that's your problem.
that's a dumb argument. that's like arguing we should allow minors to buy alcohol cause they can just send a legal age person to buy it for them.
Did you know that Facebook sells personal information and datas of its members to advertising firms? yeap you’re right they don't care about our privacy when it comes to money😊.
Some videos are for certain age and above. That's why.
Talk to Google. What's GaG gonna do about their policy.
Try in youtube app. It should work
Everything is 90% AI so getting through to a real person is almost impossible
Hasn't happened to me yet.
