Why does this now happen when we're required to sign in to see a video on YouTube?

It used to be the case that all we had to do was sign in, so why does 'YouTube' now require us to provide personal ID information as well? How the hell can they be allowed to get away with this? Surely it can't be legal.

I remember reading about this. I think they did this in the UK, EU and NZ obviously, and a few others. But the US hasn't implemented this. So it has to do with the laws of the country, not YouTube policy. I forgot what they said their reasoning was, but surely it was something stupid. The EU especially has gotten really strict with YouTubers.

I didn't know you could download videos that you aren't able to playback. You can always also just turn on VPN, and set your location to the US. That should bypass any blocks, your government has instituted.

I can't believe they're naiive enough to think people will actually share that stuff and that there are some who are actually stupid enough to do it. It's not a porn site🤣

That's a stupid reason. The videos that 'YouTube' allows you will not find on other sites that portray, for example, cruelty, violence or anything else that may not be suitable for "minors", so there's no need for it.
