This feels like a slap right across the face. I have to pay money in order to use the platform without having interruptions? This type of human behavior just makes my stomach turn. It really does

Nothing against charging fees or adverts, but youtube as a company have exhausted all good will. It's like they've purposely made the adverts as infuriating as possible, to compel people to pay for it. Well I won't, out of principle. Also remember how scummy they were during covid, with their censorship. So I refuse to pay for those reasons.
Not sure why they have to litter so many ad's in the space of one video. Why don't they charge more for each ad, and just have one at the start up? Now, it can be quite a bad viewing experience.
Youtube is such an important website, that's there's an argument for it being in public ownership.
hey if you think hosting a platform should be a free service to offer to people, you should see what it costs to host that service. you think servers, real estate and electricity are free to people who host online video services? and do you think the staff that makes these things work works for free?
I prefer to just download adblock and ublock, works just fine for me and they don’t cost anything.
Do they work on apps on a tv? Any tweaks?
No, they only apply to PC. Not smart tvs
Ok. Was hoping.
Agree, especially since half of the people on their are try to sell you stuff anyway

Why would you expect to get their product for free? Television and radio have commercials, so why shouldn't YouTube? Do you expect to go to Walmart and walk out without paying for stuff?
So no, I don't think it's ridiculous for them to charge for ad-free. I'm surprised they didn't do it a long time ago.
It's a private company. They pay to keep the site running. They are paid to show ads to viewers. You have a choice -- you can watch ads, or you can pay not to see them.
One has to make money somehow, in order to maintain the platform. That can either be by pay subscription or advertising revenue.
I personally don't pay for YouTube, and I have no problem watching an occasional ad.
It's their website, they have a right to charge anything they want to use it.
Why don't you start your own website and give it away for free?
It’s an otherwise free website. They want me to pay in order to not have any interruptions, not pay for the content. That’s an insult
Oh the humanity! These cruel people! How dare they ask you to pay for something. You're entitled to everything free! Just because they spend billions of dollars to give you the option of using their website or not doesn't mean they have a right to ask you to help pay for it! How outrageous!
So tell me, who is forcing you to use their website? You don't like it? Go somewhere else. That's your right. And it's their right to charge anything they want in any way they want to use a website that they are paying for.
Where you get this idea that you're entitled to something for nothing is not only crazy, it's scary. They can run their website anyway they please and you have no entitlement to be a freeloader and tell them how they have to manage it.
screw that, I pay enough for cable. If I can't get content for free I will just do without. There is nothing that is really that good tht I need to watch it.
You still have cable? I still know someone with cable. I was wondering how they were still in business.
@dustybiker2 every once in a while I look into getting a bunch of streaming services but I would have to operate it every time my wife wanted to change the channel. Besides that you don't really save that much money
We only pay for internet.
Youtube, tubi ans the like are free and enough for me. Tubi has all the 90's movies people don't appreciate and are my favs. We've had Netflix and I haven't watched it for 12 months. I have missed a season of the Brit baking show though. Will binge that this weekend
@dustybiker2 I get Netflix and Disney from my daughter. I get Amazon Prime and Paramount Plus from on of my son's and I get MAX from the other one
@exitseven I was going to get disney for that star ears show that was popular, Mandalorian. Still might do that but I'm addicted to my rebuilding château channels on YouTube. And haven't even checked prime. Prime movies started charging extra for the good stuff which rendered it a pointless shopping cart. They get enough outta me already. I won't support greed.
@dustybiker2 I have been watching Boche on Amazon Prime. It's a cop show but very good
@exitseven Yeah? I'll check it out.
Don't like the ToS? Don't use the product. Simple.
They'll get all the money they can any way they can. Just use an ad blocker.
Do you work for free? I don't think so. So slap your face and pay up or don't watch...
Okay boomer. Does Facebook make people pay? Does gag? Exactly so shut the hell up
how would you propose youtube makes money, then?
They make $ by ads, if you don't want them you pay for it.
I don't mind if there's ads between videos, but when an ad interrupts a song I get pissed
Yes, I completely agree, it's totally ridiculous.
Nothing in life is free
you can always go to another platform
Such as?
dailymotion, twitch, rumble, vimeo
Huh. Never heard of any of these
But there are ways around it
