Do you think it's even worth buying my brothers gaming laptop?

My brother has a gaming laptop he bought for $1,300. He's selling it, and he is asking for $900. I asked if he'd go lower, and he said no. He's letting me borrow it for a couple of weeks before before I decide to buy it for him. It runs great and everything, but he's already had it for two years. I am looking at it and used I doubt it is worth it. It is a little tricky to evaluate the vakue of costum builds but if you stick in the same cpu, graphics card, size and such you got most of it. Paying for an operating system I find to usually be dumb but that's me.

But my basic suggestion is this:
Google up Tracer IV gaming laptops. Custom build one with the same specs. See the price.
However much it has dropped that is what it has dropped completely new. I would not be shocked if you could get the same thing fresh out of the box for 990 today. But maybe you can't. PC and Laptops have had odd situations the last several years.

The next thing is to see what and how much more you can get in a similar-ish price range.

It is almost guaranteed your brother can not easily sell it at this price. While I am sure he is trying to be nice and give you a good deal, what he is asking may be what it is worth but significantly more than he could sell it for.

Anyway. Custom build it. Use the same site if you can. Should be good for both of you to get facts instead of feelings.

How old is it? They depreciate pretty rapidly. But there are a lot of used laptops on the market, so it shouldn't be hard to determine a fair price. Look on E-bay or other sites for comparable models.

I hope you still did not buy it because im looking at best buy and i saw a 4060 laptop on sale for $800. And it's brand new. But to be honest your brother laptop isn't bad but for a used laptop with those specs i may only offer him $400 if he doesn't take it then just go buy a brand one at best buy.

If it's battery is good i think u can try to bring him down to 700 - 800 and it should be fine. Its a 2 year old laptop with a 3060. 3060 still runs fine but 4 series outdates it a lot.

Then its not worth it. You can get a 12th gen mid range 4 series rtx for under 900 bucks. It might have a shit battery tho. Like this one
