Isn't it hard to believe that the first internet kids are now in their 40s?

I would put the first internet generation between the second half of the 90s. I hardly remember how internet was back then because I was little, but I'd like to know about people who were old enough by then to use it, how do they feel today a quarter of a century later? Did you ever imagine that you could access internet from the top of a mountain or even under the water? Or that technology would be so easily accessible?

Man that's crazy to think about! People who used the internet back in the 90s must be like almost middle aged by now. That's just nuts.

I can't imagine what it was even like back then. From the old pictures it looks so basic, like just text on screens. No videos, no apps, nothing we take for granted now. Must've been pretty boring compared to these days!

I bet those early internet people never thought it would get this advanced. Being online from anywhere, on phones, even underwater? No way they could've imagined that back then. The internet nowadays is like magic compared to how it started out.

It's also wild how much people used to accept less technology too. No smartphones, slow internet, computers the size of fridges. We're totally spoiled now with how convenient and fast everything is. Those 90s internet pioneers paved the way for all of us growing up digital. Cool to think they'd only be middle aged now seeing how crucial internet is to daily life. They must be totally blown away!

I think we got spoiled I agree because we got used to daily life with it basically. People get used to things I believe, good or bad I believe. What they/people are allowed to get away with.

I think you rather mean World Wide Web than Internet, because the latter started already in the 1960s. My and my friends' first access was with modems (I had a 19.2k Baud Zyxel) to connect with mailboxes, mostly for downloading software, Amiga demos and the first computer fanzines.

1. I didn't know you could use the internet underwater and also on top of a mountain? ! Damn. Their reception must be real bomb lol. I sometimes LOES connection depending on where I'm at!

2. Yes. I'm about to be 40 this year and well, I remember the internet. I was scared of accessing it actually as a child of 11! I remember it making that weird sound:

It was so cool!

Then came AIM (AOL Instant Messanger) and Yahoo Messanger, and now I could contact my friends from three blocks away to just three doors away!

I don't know but I think it's brought like a double edged sword. There's both good and bad about it. We are more informed, more connected. But at the same time, more evil people utilize it to do bad things.

My mum and her partner can remember dial-up modems. Speed measured in bauds, which was not strictly correct. My brother and I played with our grandfather's old Atari 8-bit machines. That, too, had a dial up modem, but I am not sure whether we ever got it working.
