You can use in the built in uninstaller in Windows. To me a better way is to download something like Revo Uninstaller. Free version works fine. When runnng, click on the Advanced tab (below) before Scan and after the uninstaller finishes it will give you the option of removing all traces. It will look something like this.

Norton, as I remember it... Installs as a program and also as a "reminder" side program or whatever

REVO uninstaller is a little utility to uninstall programs

Will detect both and delete it all at once

I looked into that. There was more f-ing trouble even getting this thing installed and figuring out how to use it then my brain could endure. Things are just never easy. Plus it cost money.

Some of those antivirus programs are annoying because deinstallation doesn't work proper or crashes.
Best way is to use autoruns from sysinternals. com (it's microsoft freeware tool) and deactivate starting of norton
Just be careful because with this tool you can deactivate easily software your windows needs like non MS drivers.

Completely remove Norton from my computer?

From the start menu, click the Control Panel. Select Programs. Click on Program and Features. In the list of currently installed programs, select the Norton Security product, and then click Uninstall or Remove. xxoo

    that can be a challenge.
You have to start with uninstalling the program, but that does not get rid of everything.
I think I did a google search of how to do that and it worked.
Do a little online research and you should be able to find the answers.
And for the upcoming barrage of emails that will follow just block them or mark them as spam.
In a couple 2 or 3 years it should clear it's self out.
Hopefully there will be somone more computer savy that knows more than I do, which shouldn't be hard to find.

Might have to wipe your laptop. I had to do that with Norton a few years ago. I had it as virus protection but then when it ran out it became a virus that I could get rid of. Impossible to use my laptop.

Norton is just as bad as the viruses than claim to remove.

I'm beginning to wonder. When I quit McAfee I got pop ups for a couple of weeks saying I had 3 viruses. My subscription to Norton expires today. Wonder what I will be getting from them?

Use what @NathanDavis said. It can remove all the registry keys that Norton leaves behind.

Add/Remove hardware. It's best to use the built in uninstall from the program, I've found. Trying to do custom uninstalls leads to broken filepaths and detached files.

I’m not a computer expert but I was told that if you install something like Norton , you can delete it but you can’t get rid of the “cookies”

    Buy a new computer 🖥️
