It's laughable how badly they want this stuff to work but much like modern programs, games, etc it's like they haven't thoroughly tested it before release... Or just don't care. The biases they have built into these programs can't be seen as anything other than propaganda at best, and social engineering at worst, but some of the hilarious screwups like the one in your screenshot can and will likely get someone hurt or killed in the future.

Broadly, I see this as just the next step in the existence of tools that make life easier rather than better, which will make people lazier rather than smarter. Since these companies are fully in bed with the "eat the bugs and live in the pod" vision of the future though, that's probably very much the point.

What I think, is every major company is in a mad dash to force AI into their products, G@G obviously included.

While I don't hate AI, I don't think it's in a smart enough state to be throwing out there carelessly like this. It's very good at specific things, and I'll even roleplay with character. ai quite often, but the hilarious failure of GOOGLE, BIG SMART TECH COMPANY, who can't even seem to get this to work, just seems to prove my point that they're rushing to implement this garbage to impress investors.

I just got an email from Google about 30 minutes ago. They want me to try their new Gemini. It's their version of ChatGPT. Sounds interesting.

Well, I've got a Microsoft laptop and - as far as I can tell - they own chatgpt. So everytime I'm on Bing, the website is screaming at me with its AI answers. I've learned to just ignore it. Google users will have to do the same

"Intelligence" in machines is just that - artificial.
About five decades ago, I had to write a capstone thesis to a course on "artificially produced sustaining intelligence". I was one of the few who raked tech over the coals, since it is the human mind that has to s=design the stuff in the first place. I graduated in the top 10% of my class, and tech is still groping to show that machines can be "intelligent", which they can't. (IF that piece is real, which I doubt) it would simply prove my point: "AI" does not have DISCERNMENT of being able to separate the logical from the logically doable!
