1 yWe are simultaneously more connected to others than ever before, and more isolated than ever before. Communities have mostly been regulated to the digital space, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it feels different when it’s Felicia from across the ocean versus your neighbor next door. As everything moved to digital, the techphobic can’t keep up and it causes as many problems for them as for those who embrace it fully because interactions and finding a middle ground seems impossible. There’s a huge spike in information but there are so many people who take it at face value and don’t know how to fact check what they read and misinformation exists just as greatly. Companies have taken the internet and turned it into a competition of feelings: the more someone feels (angry, sad, etc.) the more money you make from their clicks on your digital articles or advertisements. The internet can be a great place if you know how to curate it to what you want and what you need but it’s so easy to get caught up doing everything else that being connected can be a detriment.

m 1 yIn some fairly major ways but also subtle ones. If you look over the last 100 years and then the last 10, the speed of technological advancements is increasing.
in health care we have numerous technologies used from MRI scanners, micro surgery, the use of AI to detect breast cancer which is proving more accurate than humans at early detection.
We can stream all types of media, music, movies, games and have it fully on demand, this means we want things now and get impatient if we have to wait.the use of the internet for the likes of placing orders with Amazon, then not having to wait a week but same day or next day delivery.
Internet shopping has pretty much killed high street shopping.
people live more in social media and unfortunately believe instantly what is posted on social media as news. social media has more of an influence on every day lives.
We have mobile phones with more computing power than was used by NASA.
We can have that same power in a watch to make and receive calls, to send messages etc.
companies are starting to use LLMs aka AI to cover help desks or parts of the business that are customer facing, that same AI is used to help with coding, to help with writing and also art. AI can now be used to create some very detailed art work.
we have devices like sat nav to help us navigate through cities we have never before visited, we have kindles that store 10,000’s of books.

For someone as young as you I don't have an example within you lifetime, but for me I've lived through a lot of impactful technical changes. I didn't get my first brick of a cellphone till I was 16 and that thing on had 12 buttons and screen smaller than a bootle cap with like 10 pixels lol, so now being 32 that means if still gone the majority of my life without a cellphone, I remember and have used pay phones to call my parent collect with "1 800 C-A-L-L-A-T-T" Part of school for me was learning how to use a dictionary and encyclopedias, doubt many of those get used any more. We didn't have youtube tutorials back then Uuuh there wasn't ordering things online like Amazon growing up, we had malls which are slowly dying out.
I think a lot of people today wouldn't know how to survive if they were dropped 20-25 years in the past without their cellphone.10 Reply
It has made lives easier, but made us lazier. I feel like we are becoming less worthy as a society, and weaker, mentally from technology.
I think if we look at all aspects of technology it has made our lives better in one way, while making our lives worse in others.
Some technology are worth it, and some really bring no value.
Like social media being used to brainwash, with propaganda. It is addictive to many people, and create a very hostile place.
Technology has made it easier to spread propaganda with AI, social media, spreading lies, by billions of people instead of the elite doing it.
Millions of people claiming a lie is true brings more value to the lie, than thousands doing it.
I can see the mental health of a lot of people deteriorating because of it.

You haven't tried to use a "virtual coupon" at our local food stores. I waste three hours a week- each store does it differently- each kicks in their sale with a certain amount of lead time. each has a different password. Old way= Take flyer. Rip out coupon. Give coupon. Done. -30-

@Massageman I wouldn’t stay there that long trying to get something on sale and I hate the digital coupons
An easy way to tell is disconnect your self for a day. Bet you feel marooned and can't make 24 hrs.
I like YT Pyschacks crack that porn is enough like sex for guys and social media is enough like love to girls, to keep everybody happy.
We are getting to a threshold point perhaps. For a long time computing has got cheaper but that is no longer certain. The next nodes are getting more expensive and the thruput is reducing so the double stream of cheaper and more powerful might not continue. It might become more expensive and more powerful.
So the future might not be as jet jackson as you might think.

1 yIt look like everything is faster and efficient but then there is no intuition or magical things. It’s also noisy in internet. All the trolls come out and mess around everywhere. For instant, I don’t know if I ever get any useful answer in this website ever. I mean it’s not life changing. It’s just a chat wasting time.
