Negative effect because it cost a lot of people jobs and the more it advances the dangerous it can become. They trying to push machines and robots onto us and pretty soon machines and robots can do most things a human can do. That is just one example though.
Thank you for the mho
Despite what it seems, we are living much healthier lives now than we have in the past. Life expectancy has gone up. Diseases once fatal rendered no more due to our advancements.
- If you think about it 5 seconds, it's positive.
- If you think about it 5 minutes, it's +/- 50/50.
- If tou think about it 5 hours, it's negative.

I think very positive. At least I'm not a survival enthusiast. Maybe I could get used to that lifestyle and maybe I'd even be happier living off the land and just focusing mostly on surviving. But I'm at least spoiled by technology. I wouldn't find it so fun for a good while at least having to worry about stockpiling food to survive one more winter, having to rub tar on my skin as insect repellent, having to hunt and forage for food instead of shopping at a grocery store, having no doctor or dentist to deal with diseases and tooth decay, seeing my life expectancy cut in half, etc.
I do think we're kind of spoiled by it. It might be good for schools to focus on some wilderness survival courses, for example, if only to teach us to appreciate basic things like air conditioning and toilet paper and being able to take showers in a bathroom, not to mention the endless amount of entertainment available, and not take all this for granted.
As a web developer working at a healthcare company, I feel I can confidently say that it’s been very positive. In the medical industry alone, countless technological innovations have likely saved millions of lives just from using computers to monitor the health of patients at risk for deadly diseases. I could write a long essay on how it’s had a positive effect on our society. While it can be very easy to get lost in the negatives that it can have, particularly with people online who can hide behind a username, every minute lives are saved by by a computer in some way. I’d say that’s a positive effect.
Quite frankly, both. It allows for a lot of advances... but also handicaps people by making them dependent on technology.
For example:
Pro: MRI/CT scans allow you to detect bleeds, cancers/masses, and many medical problems that are then addressed.
Con: By having calculators, many people can no longer do basic mathematics. So in a grocery line, many people are not able to ballpark their totals---meaning if there was an error made charging them extra money---they'd be clueless.
Positive, but it's had a lot of negative effects on us socially and the planet we live on. Along with making wars more terrifying. In mix with that our health is significantly better and I'd say we're smarter because of it. Although I'd say technology is improving at a rate I'd consider dangerous.
We spend by far too much time looking at phones, tablets, laptops and desktop monitors. I think we have more obesity, hemorrhoids, and muscle atrophy than we used to before technology took over and isolated us one from another. That big light outside your window is NOT a backlight for your monitor. It is a star that helps plants grow, warms the earth, and lights up the path to the people next door and next block. Yes, there is life beyond the LCD. I know. I remember being there, once.
It's made negative effect , the rate of Cable TV and High Speed Internet
is outrageous in the United States in Pennsylvania. People are force to
use prepaid or pay as you go cell phone service cause long-term contracts
will cost you more money than you can pay. It cost lot American their jobs
you go to Walmart they have self check out and very few people to check
you out on registers. The rich of technology is getting richer while people
get poorer.
Highly positive effect, i notice its an accelerator. It made people vastly more aware of what is going on and people share solutions.
It's overall positive for people with higher intelligence.
It's overall negative for people with average or lower intelligence.
So it's more of a negative as a whole.
Negative, because I dont think people are capable of handling it yet.
We sort of lost control as a society and depend too much on it.
Positive, although for the moment people are becoming crazy.
But I guess they will learn eventually... hope so.
Awesome I can listen to 50 cent a lot easier and more often
It all depends on how it's used. Guns cause a lot of problems, but at least we don't have to worry about Polar Bears taking over the world...
Depends on the purpose & result of the technology. And some have mixed results.
Medically very positive
It's been pretty terrible for every other species.
Positive, overall.
