Who still has a desktop computer at home that still works?

I play games sometimes and I use 3d modeling and renedering applications. A destkop PC with power hungry Nvidia GPU connected to a 55'' 4k OLED is the best option for me at home.
We have three desktops and 4 laptops.

I mean, it technically still works, but not properly. I got mine around 2012/2013. I tried to use it for as long as I could, but about 3 years ago, I no longer could. It randomly started crashing in the middle of using and even resetting it to factory settings didn't help, so I was pretty much forced to get a laptop. I wasn't surprised, because my previous one lasted about 10 years as well.
I still have files stored on it though, and I don't turn it on unless I absolutely have to, and when I do, I try not to use it for more than 30 minutes, 'cuz I'm afraid it'll crash
I don't see a smart enough alternative for intelligent and creative computer activity.
I'm ''still'' a person who refuses to smear fingers over a tiny screen, or to fiddle around with some non-precise mouse-pad.
''Still works'' indeed is a struggle - nowadays too much Chinese crap lasts not long enough - so that I'm forced to replace components more often than I'd wish to.
But -hey- Chinaman was bold enough to grab our balls, and now we pay the price for it.
I do. I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre, but also two older IMacs that still work. I've had several HP laptops, but both had their hard drives go out, so I won't be buying another from them.
I switched to a laptop 5 years ago, after my Dell desktop running WinXP finally died. Actually, it didn't die, it just got so slow that I could no longer do much with it. I sold it for US$10 in a garage sale.
I have a Dell with an XP as well. Something similar happened to mine. It started running so slowly and started randomly crashing every 5 minutes in the middle of use. I tried to hold out as long as I could, and I even put it back to factory settings. It helped a little bit but not much. I was basically forced to buy a laptop, because it basically became impossible to work on it
I have... a gaming setup... much better and more efficient than any gaming laptop :D
Desktops as they are... are not outdated at all...
however, I do have a couple from 2008 and 2012... and in theory, they could still run and work too, lol
I still have a laptop from 1995 with Windows 3.1 :D

@IslaTheWitch big difference there... between going to the moon, and making it back
lmao :D
My dad has one but I don't think he ever uses it. I thought about it once because I heard they were faster than laptops but I can't imagine anything faster than my laptop or that I would need anything faster so I never got one.
I do. I bought it like ten years ago for Sim racing. It had the best graphics card available, and I connected it to an Oculus Rift.
No. As she got older I kept installing lighter distros of Linux on her. Mint, Lubuntu, Puppy... then she gave up the ghost.

Me. These are superior to laptops. I assembled mine in the beginning 2016
