Do you think social media algorithms are really just a way of trying to bury people who don't fall in line?

So I don't necessarily mean this in a political or even entirely a "conspiracy theory" sense. About 10 or 15 years ago you could say something on social media and it would get noticed no matter what, regardless of what it was. But nowadays if it's not a goofy or comedic line, is not cookie-cutter thought pieces that are more "socially acceptable," or doesn't echo the same pattern as others, it will be invisible on YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook.

Do you think the invention of social media "algorithms" are really just tools to dictate or govern what people say or what people see someone saying?
