Anonymous(18-24)1 yI would be much happier... I believe the world would be a much better place by eliminating a major source of toxicity, that is social media. People wouldn't be exposed to all this negativity, which is detrimental to their mental health, would stop comparing their lives to those of others, would be forced to develop problem-solving skills, instead of looking for ready-made solutions, learn how to socialize, cooperate and be more tolerant of other people's differences, instead of building echo chambers and shutting down or bashing anyone, who doesn't share the same views with them.
Young people wouldn't be exposed to all these negative and unhealthy role models and influences...
I suspect it would only be worse for those, who make a living and profit off social media, out of stirring up drama or intentionally exploiting other people's weakness to sell more products, makeup and clothing brands, plastic surgeons and multinational corporations. The only social media app with educational value that kinda differs from the others is YouTube...
The worst of all is TikTok. It's just brain p*rn that destroys people's attention spans. in my opinion, it's neither educational (what could you possibly learn out of a 30 second reel), nor entertaining.
It’s rather sad how people nowadays entertain themselves by watching others trying on shoes and clothes, and pouting, or moving their lips in front of a camera.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yIn all honesty? It would probably make it a lot more peaceful. I've actually been contemplating deactivating all of it pretty hard lately, as some of the things I see on there just don't make me feel good about myself, the world, or other people. It can be very depressing and bring out the worst in people. On the other hand, my in-person interactions are generally much better and more positive. I've heard many people say cutting out social media has vastly improved their lives, so I'm really thinking about it, yet 1) I get really bored when work is slow and it's easily accessible, and 2) I like the fact that it's the easiest way to keep in contact with people. I'm this 🤏 close to deactivating at this point, though. I'm sick of the negativity and people finding anything to be outraged about, the filters and crap pushing unrealistic beauty standards onto people, the drama and fighting, the sheer narcissism and self-importance it feeds for some people, and the attention seeking behavior.

I would be celebrating because social media doesn't bring much goods into society.
The creators of facebook before it was being sold to the current ownernopenly admitted that introducing algorithms to the software went totally wrong and it didn't work out the way it was mented to be.

1 yWell, considering social media is tied to customer support, and forums for said customer support, it would cause a major info blockout and we would go back to newspaper, but i would still be reading manga, watching anime, doing repairs on stuff, researching information per usual

AskSocial media's disappearance would profoundly shift our communication and information-sharing paradigms. Personally, I would rely more on direct communication and established professional networks. While staying updated with trends might require alternative sources, it would rejuvenate deeper connections and dedicated focus. It'll foster a return to traditional forms of learning, networking, and relationship-building.

Anonymous(25-29)1 yNot just me. I believe a lot of people will probably feel less stressed, less insecure about their own physical appearance and even suicide rates may go down. There’s so much cyber bullying online which contributes towards people having suicidal thoughts

Opinion Owner1 yPeople can just talk to their friends, coworkers or family through text messages and phone call. They don’t need the internet and social media for it
6 moIt'll be funny, Entertaining, and somewhat annoying. Since I don't have social media's. I will see people roaming and freaking out that their fake life are at its end. Just watching them struggle to have a normal conversation with a real human. So many things.

1 yIt wouldn’t. I can go days without my phone I don’t know how many people can honestly say that. There are times when I’ll leave my phone at work over the weekend or I’ll leave it in my friends car or just lose it altogether. I’m bad with phones. And since I don’t social media anyway , I can give a fuck.
00 ReplyIt would be really positive for me if it were to disappear , Facebook and Instagram I wouldn't miss at all.
Back in Australia previously , the most important was Facebook marketplace , but I'm not using that now.00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Technology & Internet topic. I couldn't care less. I watch music videos and engage in music discussions on YouTube channels, and that is about as close I come to using social media.
