What would you do with this EMAIL ISSUE?

I have an email address of the form <fi><mi><ln>@<email>. com where:

fi is my first initial, mi is my middle initial, ln is my full last name, and email is the email provider.

For example: abname@hotmail. com (not the real email address)

In the past few years, I am receiving email intended for someone else, in particular recent emails from that person's doctor about appointments, bills due, etc.. That person has a similar email address with dots (periods) between the fi, mi and ln.

For example: a. b. name@hotmail. com (not the real email address)

[There are no spaces after the dots but they are automatically inserted when I Preview this post in GaG]

I have tried sending an email to a. b. name@hotmail. com to tell them what is happening but the email comes back to my abname@hotmail. com address (not the real email addresses).

I have also sent email to the person's doctor, using the source email address that gets sent to me, and I get no send error, but the emails continue to come to me.

Has anyone ever had this kind of email problem.

What can be done to correct it?

It looks like, somewhere along the line, maybe the doctor's email (Outlook perhaps?) or email provider deletes all the dots in the address.

The problem is with Gmail, which applies here (even though hotmail is used in the example).

Google AI says...
"In Gmail, dots in email addresses are ignored. This means "john. doe@gmail. com" is the same as "johndoe@gmail. com" for receiving emails. However, dots do matter in Outlook, Yahoo Mail, and iCloud. If someone sends an email to a Gmail address with or without dots, it will be delivered to the same inbox as long as the rest of the address is identical."

We've had the problem via certain on-line presences and the same "problem" was a total non-issue with some others, depending on whether it was gmail, hotmail, or any other presence provider/app or whatever you want to call these things. Different one- apparently- have different allowable/not allowable characters.

We deal (primarily with) with two banks. Each has their own algorithms about which characters it will/will NOT accept (even if the characters are only descriptions for me to read). Makes my record keeping interesting when I have to write in some info. Why can't they come up with one SOP? I have no idea.

I think the best chance would be contacting the email service itself, and let them know about the situation, and then blocking the senders who are probably under some sort of automation

if it has been years of this... and it keeps happening, that only means that the recipient doesn't really pay attention and it is not important enough for them to do something about it

it looks like they're not really missing these emails, so just block the senders and they might check it and revise it, if they really care for it

Personally I'd just block anything from these places, it's their problem to sought out not mine especially if they're sending confidential or personal information. The other guy should have spotted he's not getting his mail and checked why.

If the doctor's name is on the email and any other pertinent information try ✍🏼 writing them a letter and sending it in the mail 📬

When you get one of these emails what address pops up when you hit "Reply"?

@exitseven The sender's address. If I reply all, the address with the dots also appears.
Read my update. The issue is unique to Gmail.

It's the Email provider (Hotmail). Google does the same thing. Just mark any misdirected mail as spam.
